 COVID-19: Symptom and Prevention

COVID-19 means Coronavirus Disease-19 which is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2). As it was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, it is named as COVID-19. WHO declared the outbreak as a pandemic in March, 2020. The virus spreads primarily through respiratory (শ্বাসযন্ত্রের) droplets. 

People affected with COVID-19 may show various symptoms which may appear in two to fourteen days after the exposure to the virus. The common symptoms may be fever, dry cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. Some people may face difficulty breathing. Older people and those with medical problems such as heart disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease are vulnerable to this virus. So far there is no cure or vaccine for COVID-19; though a few are in development stages. So the best way to stay safe is to take preventive measures which include social distancing, wearing face masks in public, hand washing, covering one's mouth when sneezing or coughing, disinfecting surfaces, and monitoring and self-isolation. We must wash our hands for at least 20 seconds and maintain at least 3 feet distance from others. Besides we can make our immune system stronger by following the health rules, taking nutritious food, drinking a lot of liquid and doing light exercise. Anyone having the symptoms must be quarantined in order to avoid close contact with others. We must follow the above instructions as treatment for COVID-19 is not yet found. Hence personal hygiene is the only Ans. way to stay safe from this disease.
